We can all recite the classic blogs describing the healthy habits to make before work or even the night before, in order to having a healthy and productive day. But, although being super organised is extremely important, a productive day actually starts with FUELLING your body and brain to think clearly, work efficiently and feel INCREDIBLE. A car doesn’t run if it doesn’t have its fuel, right?
So, below we have outlined our favourite ways to stay energised at work, from opening our eyes in the morning to that well-known 3pm slump!
1. Re-hydrate your body
We all know how important it is to drink at least eight glasses of water a day and keep ourselves hydrated, especially as the warmer months start to roll in. But is drinking water in the morning as much of a priority as during the day? Yes!
2-3 glasses of water in the morning not only re-hydrates us after a long night’s sleep, it also helps to flush out the toxins in our blood, get our bowel movements working efficiently and can even help fight infections! Even 2-3 glasses when the sun rises, starts you off to a well hydrated day!
Drinking water can help reduce the need to going straight to the coffee machine to help wake you up, with new found energy!
2. Cut down on the caffeine
Simple but an important point! A cup of coffee in the morning can boost your mood and mental performance, so it’s not uncommon for us to say I need coffee! when we’re feeling unmotivated. However, consuming too much coffee at work can actually have the opposite effect on your work habits. Those extra cups of coffee you think will wake you up, can actually cause an inability to focus and increase anxiety.
So, when you’re feeling that craving for a pick-me-up, reach for a green tea instead. Or, if you’re a little more adventurous, try a matcha latte instead, and fuel your body with antioxidants alongside a sustained caffeine hit for a day’s work.
